Using Sheet Paper in CED Plotters

Read and heed the specifications and instructions below before manually feeding sheet paper into CED plotters.

Print on paper not supplied by CED at your own risk. Loading unsupported paper or loading any type of paper incorrectly may result in poor print quality or damage the printer, taking it offline for everyone.

About Paper Profiles

Every plotter (a.k.a. wide-format inkjet printer) is designed to print on only specific types of paper. Each supported paper type is programmed into the printer as a “paper preset,” “media type,” or “paper profile.” Embedded in each of these profiles are characteristics like paper weight, thickness, color, and surface texture. Based on this information, the printer alters its mix of colors, chooses different types of ink, prints slower or faster, applies more or less ink, and/or alters the distance between the print head and the paper.

When loading your own sheet paper, always select the closest equivalent paper profile on the printer and/or in your print settings, as described in the printer’s instructions.

When using paper from the same manufacturer as the printer, the name of the paper will often match the name of the paper profile.

When using another brand of paper, select the closest equivalent paper profile. If the print quality doesn't meet your expectations, you may need to experiment with multiple paper profiles until you find the one that works best for your paper.

  • Supported Paper Weight: 60 g/m2 - 328 g/m2
  • Minimum Top, Right, and Left Margins: 5 mm | 0.2”
  • Minimum Bottom Margin (Trailing Edge): 17 mm | 0.67”
