How to check out an ArcGIS Pro license from ArcGIS Online
This article should allow you to setup your computer to check out your ArcGIS Pro license from ArcGIS Online for offline use. Please keep in mind that once you check out your license from ArcGIS Online, you will no longer be able to log in and license ArcGIS Pro on ANY OTHER DEVICE. Do not take these steps unless you will be offline and without internet access, but still need to use ArcGIS Pro.
Before you can do anything with ArcGIS Pro, you will need to log into ArcGIS Online to create an account. You can do so by going to https://cal.maps.arcgis.com and logging in with your calnet ID and passphrase. Only then will the following instructions apply.
To enable offline licensing in ArcGIS Pro, please do the following:
- Open ArcGIS Pro and go to Settings, then Licensing, and ensure the license type is ArcGIS Pro Named User License.
- Check the box labeled Authorize ArcGIS Pro to work offline
- Sign in if requested using our SSO portal (https://cal.maps.arcgis.com) using you Calnet ID and passphrase.
- Ensure the line username is authorized to use ArcGIS Pro offline appears beneath the checkbox
What happens if I check out my license accidentally?
If you accidentally check out your ArcGIS Pro license, you will have to go back into the licensing area of ArcGIS Pro and release it (uncheck the work offline box). It can take up to 30 minutes for ArcGIS Pro and Online to synchronize the license release, so please keep this in mind when following this article.
What if I can't release my license myself?
In the event that something terrible has happened and you're unable to release your license from your device, we are able to contact Esri on your behalf and get the license released. This will take a day or two for the license to release and your account will be unable to license ArcGIS Pro elsewhere. Please submit a request here for assistance.
